HE-10005 - Adapt Like A Bug - Part 2
NOTES:
Case Study Details
- Ava
decided to create this series of Challenges (Part 1 + Part 2) because
she was really struggling with the volume level of some of the other
learners in the Studio.
- Upon further reflection, using the What's Bugging Me Decision Map,
her hypothesis was that it really was just the volume of their voices
that was bothering her - not necessarily what they were doing (in other
words, other than being unkind/inconsiderate, they weren't breaking
Safety Guardrails or intentionally violating the Studio Contract). The
Decision Map recommendation was to Let It Go.
- She
also suspected that 80% of the problem was happening during Free Time
in the morning, before Morning Launch. Which is different than Learners
not controlling their excitement (and volume) during Flow Zone, or
Quest, or Quiet Time.
- Learners
were tackling an Entomology Adventure for Quest that Session, so she
decided she was willing to try to "adapt like an ant" and see if it
helped.
- Her first step was going an experiment to verify WHEN the noise was actually occurring and bothering her the most. (Part 1)
- After
that, she would try discreetly using noise-cancelling headphones or ear
plugs during that time to see if it helps improve her experience in the
Studio. (Part 2)
- Here's Ava's original sketch! So. Cool.
